MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Moms got in free at the Milwaukee County Zoo today for Mother's Day. Families were lined up down the block to get inside for a fun day with their moms.

"It's just a beautiful day so we wanted to come out and spend some family time at the zoo," said one mom, Valerie Korgenson.

Valerie, her son Micah, and husband Jack, were one of many families out at the zoo Sunday.

Jack said it's great to be out again with COVID-19 out of mind, and most of the gloom and rain gone for now.

"With the long winter just being able to take advantage of those beautiful days walk outside, just seeing my son having a great time at the zoo seeing the animals, it's so much fun," said Jack.

"I think the elephants are her favorite, she does like the giraffes, she's not brave enough to feed them though," said another mom, Maria Morgan.

Maria's husband Tyler said he's been keeping an eye on their daughter Bria on Sunday to make it easy on mom.

"Been trying to wrangle this one in as much as possible so that way mom can also enjoy her day to the fullest," said Tyler.

For other families, like the Nagels, visiting the zoo is a common thing.

"We don't live that far, we have a zoo pass, it's a great place to come with the kids," said one dad, Peter Nagel.

Megan Nagel said it's good to know she's loved by her family.

"Well there you have it folks!," exclaimed Megan.

From everybody at CBS 58 News, Happy Mother's Day.
