Reviews of ’Pluribus’ and ’Jay Kelly’ in Racine Reels
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- As summer break winds down, education specialists say now is the time to prepare children for the transition back to school. Judy Cohen of Lakeside Educational Services joined us on Monday, Aug. 11 to share tips for easing kids into the new year.
Cohen encourages parents to model positivity, acknowledge concerns and use confident language to reset a child’s mindset.
She recommends cleaning closets, organizing school clothes and setting aside a homework space outside bedrooms. Families should review supply lists, reuse what is on hand and involve students in shopping and lunch planning.
Other steps include reestablishing breakfast, bedtime and wake-up routines, introducing a daily whiteboard for activities and starting to use planners before classes begin.
