SOUTHEAST WISCONSIN (CBS 58) -- If you're in a last-minute rush to buy Halloween costumes for your kids, you might not want to skim over the labels.
Some studies show certain ingredients in Halloween makeup could be harmful to your child's health.
Here are some things to avoid:
- Phthalates are used to plasticize products and could cause reproductive abnormalities. It's sometimes labeled as fragrance on packages.
- PEG compounds could be contaminated with carcinogens.
CBS 58 News has reached out to the Wisconsin Dermatological Society. They have had members who've expressed concerns about makeup in general having things you should watch out for.
