MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Those looking to support the family of fallen Milwaukee Police Officer Peter Jerving will have several opportunities to do so over the next week, with several area businesses hosting fundraisers to support the fallen officer's family and the Milwaukee Police Association's Fallen Heroes Fund.

"Everybody's doing their part," said Jen Clark, owner of Jen's Sweet Treats in Cudahy. "It's something that's important to do."

On Thursday, Feb. 16, 100% of proceeds at the shop will be donated to the family of Officer Peter Jerving. Clark says hosting fundraisers for fallen officers and public servants is something she has done since opening her shop.

"If I can help in any little way, I can," Clark said. "They put on the uniform every day without fail and go to work just to protect us. This is the least I can do for them."

The shop is open from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday.

On Feb. 20 at 3rd Street Market Hall, people can donate $100 and receive free food and drinks from 4:30 to 7 p.m. with 100% of proceeds going to the Fallen Heroes Fund.

"We just ask people to come and support. It's really unfortunate what happened to Officer Jerving," said Omar Shaikh, owner of 3rd Street Market Hall. "We need to protect and take care of our own. I think any time these things happen, there's a lot of us that step up."

At Valley Inn in Milwaukee, all pizza proceeds from Tuesday, Feb. 21, will go to the Fallen Heroes Fund. Barbara Orban, manager at Valley Inn, is hopeful the fundraiser will raise at least $10,000.

"I'm just trying to show my appreciation to the 'blue family' and all the families out there that support us," Orban explained. "I will stand by them until the day I die."

Meanwhile, if you walk into Ultimate Confections in Wauwatosa, you'll find chocolate police badges with the honor stripe on them for sale. It's a fundraiser started by owner Pat Murphy four years ago following the death of Milwaukee Police Officer Matthew Rittner.

"For $2, you can buy a chocolate badge and know that money will be donated to the Fallen Officer's Fund," Murphy said. "They do an incredible job of trying to serve and protect the community. We just feel it's so important that we want them to know that most of the community has their back."

Murphy says the fundraiser is available year-round.

"I'm going to continue to do it. I have no reason to stop," Murphy explained. "We're very sorry for what happened, and our prayers are with the family and the police community."
