WEST ALLIS, Wis. (CBS 58) – More than 1,800 flags covered the front lawn of a home near 91st and Montana in West Allis on the 4th of July.
According to the homeowner, the display is a tradition that dates back many years.
“My mom, sister and dad would always decorate a bike for me and a coaster wagon for 4th of July at Wilson Park,” Paul Olszewski said. “We’d always collect flags at the end of our parade and I’d go home and decorate the front yard with the bike, coaster and flags. Every year we’d collect more and more flags and this is what it turns out to be.”
Olszewski said people in the area started noticing the display and now he even gets flags for his birthday.
