MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Shoppers on Milwaukee's south side were racing to help end hunger on Wednesday, March 15.
Racers participated in the annual "Race for the Hungry" event at El Rey Food Market.
Teams went head to head to raise funds for the Milwaukee Christian Center in its mission to keep people fed.
Each team was given a list of items, and whoever picked them up the fastest won.
"I volunteer at the food pantry, and I know how hard everyone works to make sure the community is served, and I really enjoy grocery shopping so it was fun to have it a little competitive today," said Amelia Elfner, Race for the Hungry participant.
The winners received a $100 gift card, the runner up got a $50 gift card.
