UPDATE: MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – The school says a student alerted staff about a substance another student had brought to school and stored in a locker.

As protocol in these situations the school says they searched the locker and a questionable substance was found.

The district says that student was interviewed and the parents were notified.

In a statement the East Troy Community School District said the police department contacted the local bomb team to investigate and dispose of the material. They went on to say their first priority is to keep students safe at all times, and will do everything possible to guarantee the safety and security of the school.

“Everyone thought it was a drill, but drills like that never happen so we all went to the soccer field,” says East Troy student Kaleb Wachal. “We sat there for like an hour and then we went to the middle school auditorium. The superintendent talked to us about what’s happening and then we went home”.

The district has not confirmed what that substance was, but they do say school will be back in session on Tuesday.
