Dry weather finally arrives as river levels mostly go down
Tuesday saw another round of heavy rain in many communities across southeast Wisconsin. A round of strong to severe storms in the morning came with some heavy rain and then a few more downpours in the afternoon and evening continued to add to some rain. Rain totals ranged from a half to full inch of rain in most areas with a few communities seeing even more.
While that additional rain likely didn't make any flooding conditions worse, it definitely didn't make them better and likely prolonged the high water and flooding that was already in progress from basements and yards to parks and water over roadways. Two area rivers at currently at moderate flood stage: Fox River at Waukesha and Milwaukee River at Cedarburg. Many other rivers are at minor flood stage or just below flood stage. The only river currently rising Wednesday morning is the Fox River at New Munster. Flood stage there is expected to be reached over the next few days with flooding lingering into the weekend.
Rain chances are nearly non-existent the next few days so we finally get some time to dry out and clean up. A sprinkle cannot be completely ruled out for Wednesday but even if it happens it probably doesn't even get the pavement wet. Thursday looks all dry and Friday's rain chance isn't until the later evening hours.
