Dry so far this month, rain on the way late this week

Rain has been scarce in the month of July in Wisconsin. Rainfall totals for the month have been very low for most of the state with Milwaukee, Wausau, and Rhinelander leading the way with over an inch below normal. Some parts of the state had more rain than others; bottom line, everyone could use some rain at this point.

We are expecting rainfall late this week. An area of low pressure, likely a slow-mover, will usher in a chance of rain as early as Thursday evening for the state and viewing area. The rain could bring a chance of storms as well. The SPC has a marginal risk of severe storms for the southwestern part of the state.

Computer models have backed off quite a bit with widespread rain on Friday and the weekend. A good agreement among the data showers scattered showers, which could last into the weekend. The low will move out by the weekend. Rainfall totals could be between 0.5”-1.00” when all said and done.
