Drop off an old car seat at Target, get a coupon for a new one

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – Target is giving parents a chance to trade in their child’s old car seat and save on a new one.

Customers who trade in their old car seats will get a 20% off coupon toward a new car seat, booster seat, car seat base, travel system, or stroller.

The trade-in program starts on Earth Day which is Sunday, April 22, 2018 and goes through Saturday, May 5, 2018.

Target says car seats can only be traded in in stores and that they will have drop-off locations for unwanted car seats near Guest Services. Coupons can then be picked up from Guest Services near the drop-off boxes. The coupons are good both in store and online and can be used through May 19, 2018.

The company says old car seats will be recycled by Waste Management to create new products like grocery carts, plastic buckets and construction materials.

Target first introduced its car seat trade-in program in April 2016 and since then, more than 176,000 car seats have been recycled.
