Driver Lost Control and Struck Snow Bank During Traffic Stop

A driver lost control and struck a snow bank when a West Bend officer tried to stop him from driving on the wrong side of the road.

According to West Bend Police, the incident occurred on January 14 at 1:04 AM.

A West Bend officer observed a vehicle traveling eastbound on Washington Street in the westbound traffic lanes.

When the officer attempted to stop the vehicle the driver accelerated.

He then failed to stop for a stop sign, turned onto a side street, and struck a snow bank before coming to a stop.

The officer observed signs that the male driver was intoxicated.

The man failed the standardized field sobriety tests and began screaming profanities and kicking the doors of the squad car when placed under arrest.

The 26 year old Hartford man was arrested for OWI – 2nd Offense, Disorderly Conduct, Failure to Stop at Stop Sign, and Improper Left Turn at an Intersection.
