Driver dies after Jeep strikes barrier in Kenosha County

KENOSHA COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The driver was identified by Kenosha County officials as 46-year-old William Richardson, a resident of Bristol.

KENOSHA COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Kenosha County officials are investigating a fatal crash that happened near West Frontage and Burlington Roads, just off I-94. 

It happened Sunday, March 20, around 5:30 p.m. 

According to the Kenosha County Sheriff's Department, initial reports indicated a Jeep Grand Cherokee was traveling northbound, failed to negotiate the curve to the west, and struck a barrier. The Jeep had caught fire and the driver was pulled out by a passerby that came upon the crash site.

The driver of the Jeep sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital where he later died. 

Officials say the Jeep became fully engulfed in flames, sustained extensive damage and was towed from the scene.
