Dozens of golfers tee-off at area courses amid mild winter day

A day-after-Christmas warm up has people breaking out their golf clubs instead of the skis.

The Milwaukee County Parks Department opened Lincoln Park and Grant Park golf courses on Friday, as temperatures are expected to be in the low to mid-40's.

Jeff Baudry does marketing and public relations for the County Parks Department. He said it doesn't have to be a specific temperature to determine when to open the courses, just nice enough to get outside.

Early Friday morning, Baudry said at least 60 golfers had hit the links. Some showed up in pairs to challenge one other, while others came alone to work on their game.

Charles Jordan said he enjoys winter golf because not too many people are on the course and the playing conditions aren't bad either.

\"I would say for this time of year the course is in excellent shape,\" he said. \"The greens are pretty good, the leaves have kind of blown off and that's where you lose a lot of balls in the early fall, but very nice.\"

The Lincoln Park and Grant Park golf courses will also be open Saturday, December 27 and Sunday, December 28. County Parks officials tell CBS 58 there is no need to make a reservation.
