Door County Tree Farmer Donates Christmas Trees to Troops

Area Christmas tree growers are helping bring the holidays to the troops.

Growers like Ron Tillman, from Tillmann's Christmas Tree Farm in Door County donated Trees for Troops program.

The Navy veteran has been donating trees to the Trees for Troops program for the past ten years.

“When you are in the service you really appreciate some of the old traditions and things you did at home, it makes you feel good. We're real happy  to be able to do it - it's the least we can do,” said Tillman.

The program collects trees from growers all across the nation.

Last year 18,000 trees were collected nationwide.

They are shipped to service men and women serving in all five branches of the military stationed all over the world.
