Domestic incident leads to factory lockdown in Washington County

ALLENTON, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Thursday night around 9:45 p.m., the Washington County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a domestic incident that had occurred on 2nd Street in Allenton. The victim called and reported that a 32-year-old Hartford man, possibly under the influence of opiates, had damaged her car when he was leaving after a fight.

A short time later a deputy located the suspect's car parked in the back of the Maysteel Factory in Addison.

An employee told Deputies they saw the suspect run into the second floor office area of the factory. A gun case was found in the back of the suspect's car. Due to the incident the factory went into lockdown and around 80 employees were secured and evacuated.

Multiple law enforcement agencies searched the inside and outside of the factory using a drone and K9 unit. The suspect was found hiding in the factory by a K9. He surrendered without incident.

No gun was found and the gun case was empty because it had been taken as evidence earlier in the year on a weapons charge.

The factory was shut down for about three hours during the search.
