WEST ALLIS, Wis. (CBS 58) — The first fish fry of the Lenten season is Friday, Feb. 19.
Community centers, churches and restaurants are all making changes due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Kegel’s Inn in West Allis made several changes last year because of the pandemic and are continuing them this year.
“It looks different than we’ve ever done it before, but it’s allowed us to keep our doors open,” Proprietor Stephanie Kegel said.
The restaurant has limited indoor dining, outdoor dining in yurts, online ordering and a drive-thru.

“We are just doing our best and embracing what we got,” she said.
Kegel said they prepared around 500 pounds of fish and the COVID-19 changes seem to be helping business.
“We used to have one of the busiest fish fries in the city, we served maybe 520 dinners all day on Friday in our indoor space,” she explained. “Now with the pandemic and we’ve had the drive-thru, that number has jumped to closer to 1,000 because people are able to order online and take their food off the premises.”
Kegel’s Inn is open for Friday fish fry from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
