Dog shot eight times and left in wooded area in Town of Geneva

TOWN OF GENEVA -- The Walworth County Sheriff's Office is looking for information related to a dead dog found wrapped in a blanket in the Town of Geneva. Officials say the dog was shot eight times.

According to the sheriff's office, two people discovered the dead dog on White River Trail on September 14 around 12:30 p.m. The deceased dog appears to be a yellow Bullmastiff with a black face. The sheriff's office says the dog weighed 90 pounds, had matted down hair around its neck indicating it wore a collar. The female Bullmastiff had eight gunshot wounds, and was wrapped in a gray blanket with white striping on the inside.

Animal experts examined the dog at Lakeland Animal Shelter and found the dog had all its teeth, nails were trimmed, and was groomed. Scans could find no microchip inside the dog.

The Walworth County Sheriff's Office is asking anyone with information about this dog's death to call 262-741-4400. Tips can also be sent via text message to 274637.
