Dog discovered in rubble, 30 hours after tornado hit

WASHINGTON, IL -- A family was reunited after a search under the rubble in tornado ravaged Washington.

Jon Byler Dann survived the twister by hiding in the basement with his four children ages 1 through 8.

But their beloved dog, Maggie, went missing.

Nearly 30 hours later they found the animal wrapped in a carpet beneath the rubble.

She suffered several broken bones, but is expected to survive.

A family is whole once again after their home was torn apart.

We also learned Tuesday that two Milwaukee area Red Cross volunteers are giving up their Thanksgiving to help survivors.

\"It's cold, it gets cold at night,\" explained Red Cross spokesperson Sara Brueswitz,\" So, having that hot meal and a little bit of comfort while you're cleaning up is really nice.\"

The two volunteers have committed to two weeks straight. One of them has had experience with major disasters having volunteered during Super Storm Sandy.
