Dodge County Sheriff Dale Schmidt running for second term

DODGE COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Dodge County Sheriff Dale Schmidt is running for a second term. The announcement was made Tuesday.

Sheriff Schmidt said it has, "been my great honor and privilege to serve as Sheriff and I have a true passion for my career in law enforcement."

Schmidt was born in Beaver Dam and raised in Waupun. He started working for the Dodge County Sheriff's Office in 2004.

The Sheriff sent CBS 58 this campaign statement:

"I am passionate about making Dodge County a safe and enjoyable place to live, work and visit. I do my best to ensure every decision made is for the betterment of the Citizens of Dodge County.  I will never shy away from taking the fight to criminal activity rather than waiting for the criminal activity to come to our citizens. I am a proactive Sheriff with plans for the future, however, I will not leave you with empty promises. The only promise I will ever make is that each day that I am Sheriff, I will strive to make the Office of Sheriff better than it was the day before."
