Dodge County sheriff: 2 hurt following crash with school bus in the Town of Rubicon

DODGE COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Two people were taken to the hospital following a crash involving a school bus in Dodge County Thursday morning, Oct. 31.

The Dodge County Sheriff's Office was called to the scene on Jefferson Road in the Town of Rubicon, around 7:30 a.m.

An initial investigation indicates a 47-year-old Rubicon man driving a van, was traveling southbound on Jefferson Road and came upon a school bus with its lights activated -- indicating it was stopping for pickup.

Officials say the van was unable to stop due to the slippery conditions on the roadway, and collided with the back of the school bus.

The driver of the bus, a 39-year-old Hartford man, and all the children on the bus were not injured. The children were taken to school by another bus or their parents, who were contacted following the crash.

The driver of the van and his passenger were transported from the scene to Aurora Medical Center in Hartford for minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.

Assisting Dodge County Sheriff’s Office at the scene were Hartford Fire and Rescue, Neosho Fire and Rescue, Jackson Fire and Rescue, Allenton Fire and Rescue, Richfield Fire and Rescue and A.S.A.P. Towing.
