Delafield Police investigating fatal car crash

UPDATE: DELAFIELD, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Delafield Police have identified the 80-year-old man killed in a two-vehicle accident Sunday morning.

Police say Gerald Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene.The driver of the other vehicle, a 28-year-old man from Milwaukee, was taken to the hospital for evaluation, but did not appear to have any injuries. 

No charges have been filed at this time. Police are still investigating.

DELAFIELD, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A two vehicle accident at the intersection of Highway 83 and Meadow Lane in Delafield has taken the life of an 80-year old Delafield resident.    According to the Delafield Police, the accident happened just before 7:00 a.m. Sunday.   An EMT who was passing the scene was first to respond and was performing CPR on the victim when Delafield Police officers and rescue personnel from Lake Country Fire and Rescue arrived.  Despite the efforts, Delafield Police said the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the second vehicle, a 28-year-old Milwaukee man, was taken to a local hospital for evaluation but according to the news release, did not appear to have any injuries.

The driver is cooperating in the investigation and according to the Delafield Police, no one has been charged at this time.

The Delafield Police are not releasing the name of the deceased pending the notification of relatives.

The accident is continuing to be investigated by the Delafield Police and the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department Accident Reconstruction Unit.
