MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Hispanic Heritage Month kicked off Sept. 15. It will continue to Oct. 15, with events going on throughout the month.
One of those events is the UMOS Mexican Independance Day Festival. It is the largest celebration of the state on Sept. 16, and they are celebrating with a parade.
"So, it's important that we keep track of our roots, keep track of our culture," said Jesus Hernandez, a Milwaukee resident who attended the parade.
"We do it a lot for our kids too you know. We have to make sure that they're raised with knowing the significance of Independance Day is, their roots, their cultural significance, and all of that," said Hernandez.
