Construction on Arena to Shut Down Street in Downtown Milwaukee

Construction on the new Bucks arena will shut down a street in downtown Milwaukee for at least a year and a half.

Alderman Bauman, who sponsored this item, called it an unfortunate necessity of a large construction project.

The item passed quickly without objection.

This closes Juneau between 6th and 4to to accommodate the construction of the new arena for close to two years.

The Bucks and their contractors at first thought they could work without closing the street but it became too much of a safety issue.

He said though it may be an inconvenience, this is a necessary move to keep everyone safe.

Alderman Bauman says the city is being compensated for the street closure due to a pre-existing city ordinance.
