Construction Crew Hits Gas Line Causing Leak and Power Outage

UPDATE: As of 5:30 PM power was restored to all homes and evacuated residents are being allowed back in their homes.
Construction crews working in Shorewood hit a 6" gas main Monday afternoon. Crews turned the gas off following the incident.
We Energies says there is a small amount of gas from the system going to the break, but crews expect that to be fixed shortly.
About 3,500 customers lost electricity and some customers are without gas.
One block in Shorewood was evacuated due to the leak.
