MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Some community activists had a special message Friday, Oct. 15, for Milwaukee police.
"The community wants to say to the Milwaukee Police Department, thank you."
It was the Second Annual Milwaukee Police Appreciation Day.
Several community groups joined members of MPD and gathered at District 1 downtown for a brief ceremony with snacks and treats.
"We can already see just how much more support we've gained in just one year," said MPD Captain James Campbell. "I hope that long after I'm gone, that this day moves forward with MPD Appreciation Day."
The activists made similar stops at all seven police district stations in the city.
