Cocaine, marijuana found in child's diaper bag during Racine County traffic stop

RACINE COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A woman and man are facing criminal charges after authorities discovered drugs in a toddler's diaper bag during a traffic stop.

The stop occurred on Ohio Street and Republic Avenue around 1:39 a.m. Friday, Feb. 28.

117.7 grams of cocaine and 145.5 grams of marijuana were found next to a 2-year-old child in a diaper bag. 

The child was sitting in a car seat that was unbuckled, and the seat was not secured to the vehicle. 

The driver, 27-year-old Veronica Taylor of Racine, was charged with:

  • Neglecting a child
  • Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Deliver (Repeater)
  • Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Deliver 
  • Keep or Maintain a Drug Trafficking Place
  • Multiple traffic-related violations (including child restraint device violations)

A passenger, 29-year-old Andrew Crutcher of Kenosha, was charged with:

  • Neglecting a child
  • Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Deliver (Repeater)
  • Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Deliver
  • Keep or Maintain a Drug Trafficking Place
  • Probation Violations -- Wisconsin and Illinois
  • Contempt Warrant -- Kenosha County

Bond has been set at $70,000 for Taylor and $75,000 for Crutcher.

The cocaine recovered also tested positive for fentanyl.
