City of Milwaukee passes minimum wage ordinance

MILWAUKEE -- The Milwaukee Common Council passed a minimum hourly wage ordinance raising the minimum wage for all city employees to $10.10 an hour.

The $10.10 hourly wage will be enforced during 2014, but will increase to $10.80 on March 1, 2015. The ordinances primary sponsor Alderman Ashanti Hamilton says increasing the minimum wage for city employees was the \"right thing to do\".

The wage increase also covers all employees hired to do contracted work with the City of Milwaukee.
