Cirque Italia brings water circus to the Milwaukee area

GREENDALE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Cirque Italia presents “Aquatic Spectacular” in the Milwaukee area this weekend.

CBS 58 was there Thursday, Aug. 12 with a look inside the show.

The large tents are hard to miss from the Macy's parking lot at Southridge Mall.

Inside it's a spectacular show featuring a custom designed water stage that travels from city to city. The stage holds 35,000 gallons of water that performers dazzle over while thrilling the audience with every move. The stage is only one of three in the world.

The show is all 1950's themed and features rock and roll music and other high-energy act like dancers, acrobats swinging from ropes, chair balancers, jugglers, flip over trapezes, BMX bikes and more.

Inspired by the element of water, the acts express versatility and fluidity through human movement while curtains of rain and fountain jets crisscross in time to each move.

Laser lights and bubbles also add to the interdimensional effect. In a nod to the inner child, mermaids rise from the depths, and even dinosaurs make an appearance!

There will be nine performances overall at Southridge Mall over the course of the next four days, including several matinee showings.

You can purchase tickets here for one of the eight shows.
