MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Governor Tony Evers kicked off the celebration to mark the official grand opening of the new Kathy's House Wednesday, Aug. 4.
The new Kathy's House will be near the Froedtert and Medical College of Wisconsin Wauwatosa campus.
Kathy's House has provided affordable lodging and caring support to about 1,500 people annually who need to stay in Milwaukee for medical care, and now, their new facility will be able to hold many more patients.
"By doubling our capacity, we know that we will be able to now serve up to 3,000 guests a year -- 1,500 more than we could at our previous facility," said Patty Metropulos, president and CEO of Kathy's House.
The house has 36 rooms, with many more amenities than the previous location.
