MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- At some point in most people's lives, we have heard the sounds of the arcade.

  • "Test your might! MORTAL KOMBAT!"
  • "He's on fire! Boomshakalaka!"
  • "Let's make some CRAZY money in Crazy Taxi!"

...or even the primitive blips and boops of Pong and Pac-Man.

Arcades are not a relic of the past, though, particularly in the Milwaukee area where arcade gaming is alive and well, both for the classic video game and pinball experiences that adults grew up with, to the new revolutionary experiences that today's children are growing up enjoying.

To take a look at some of the experiences available in the city, our own Mike Curkov visited a virtual reality arcade experience, along with a smaller arcade that also looks to satisfy your sweet tooth, as well as arcade experiences in one large dining venue that many of us may already visit for the food.

We also got a taste of one of the most well-known gaming expos in the nation, the Midwest Gaming Classic, which takes place at the Baird Center from Friday, April 5 through Sunday, April 7.

Join Mike for his reports on Tuesday, March 26 and Thursday, March 28 during the CBS 58 news at 5, along with other segments throughout the week both on-air and online.

The Hometowns week of fun began on Tuesday with a morning chat alongside Dan Loosen, co-founder of the aforementioned Midwest Gaming Classic.
