Cardinals knock Lohse around, beat Brewers 9-7

ST. LOUIS - The Cardinals bats came to life against former St. Louis pitcher Kyle Lohse, as the Redbirds tallied nine runs (seven earned) off the Brewers starting pitcher in a 9-7 win over Milwaukee Saturday night at Busch Stadium.

The Cards had opened up a 6-1 lead after two innings, but Scooter Gennett helped get the Brewers back into it with a 2 RBI double. Ryan Braun drove in two runs as well, thanks a pair of RBI groundouts. But the Brewers couldn't muster any runs against Cards closer Trevor Rosenthal in the ninth inning, and St. Louis closed to within two games of the first place Brewers with the win.

The same two teams square off Sunday afternoon before the Brewers return home to face the Giants and Dodgers next week.
