MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Local cancer patients could benefit from a fundraiser held by the Medical College of Wisconsin.
Cancer Crush is a one mile or 5K run and walk that aims to raise money for cancer research each September.
Some of Froedtert's cancer patients spoke Monday about the the need for funding more research against the deadly disease.
The effects of cancer can't be understated. Nearly one in two people will be diagnosed in their lives.
"I still think we fall short in where we should be right now," cancer fighter Timothy Hoehnke said. "We are getting funding, and events like this helps with funding for research on better treatment so that not just people get to wear the title of survivor, but also so that people can live."
This year's Cancer Crush Run and Walk is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 28.
Information on how to register can be found here.
