Caller: Dog left in car for several days, MPD searching for owner

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – The Milwaukee Police Department took a dog to the Milwaukee Area Domestic Animal Control Commission on Monday after receiving a call stating the dog had been in a parked car for several days.

Officers responded to the area near W. National Ave. and S. 17th St. around 6:20 a.m. MPD took the dog to MADACC for further treatment.

Authorities are searching for the owner of the car.

MADACC is reminding the public that leaving dogs unattended in cars can be dangerous in very cold, hot or even warm conditions. On a warm day, the temperature inside of a vehicle can reach 120°F in a matter of minutes – even with the windows cracked. Dogs alone in cars are also open to being stolen.
