Bus surveillance video of fired worker released

MILWAUKEE -- The Milwaukee County Executive's Office released bus video from the day former Milwaukee County Transit Employee William Bierman helped a woman who was being attacked.

On October 6, 2013, Bierman noticed a confrontation between a man and a woman near 2nd and National Ave. When the fight escalated he tried to call police, but his radio was broken. He then decided to get involved and save the woman from harm.

Officials from the Milwaukee County Transit System say Bierman compromised his safety, and exposed them to liability.

Earlier this week, Milwaukee Alderman Bob Donovan and Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke both honored Bierman for doing the right thing.

Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele says he watched the video and doesn't believe Bierman should have been fired. County Executive Abele has asked that Bierman be given his job back.
