Burlington Area School Board votes to make masks optional

BURLINGTON, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Burlington Area School Board voted to make face masks optional for students, staff and visitors this school year.

The move comes after last Monday's board meeting ended in chaos, with several anti-mask supporters shouting during an hour-long public comment period.

The board eventually had to move its meeting to another location to get through the agenda.

There was no public comment Tuesday night, Aug. 17, and the mask resolution was passed without incident in a 5-2 vote.
