78-year-old man in custody in connection to shooting in Brookfield
BROOKFIELD, Wis. (CBS 58) --A 78-year-old Greendale man is in police custody. He is accused of shooting a man in the head. It happened in Brookfield Wednesday night, Nov 18.
“I got an email from our manager here saying there was an incident.” Robert Lochhead said. Lochhead lives at the apartment complex at the corner of Burleigh and Lilly Road. It's the same intersection that was blocked off.
“I got an alert on my phone, I was wondering what was going on, it said to avoid that intersection," Bob Haworth said. He lives a block over from the intersection.
Police say a 52-year-old man was walking to his parked car around 5 p.m. Wednesday night. He was approached by a 78-year-old man and shot. Witnesses tell police three shots were fired at the man and his car.
“Shocking, disbelief really, nothing ever happens here," Lochhead said.
Police say the suspect ran from the shooting scene. He later got into a car and drove off. He was arrested hours later in Beloit.
Investigators tell CBS 58 the 78-year-old suspect had prior business dealings with the victim.
“I hope he gets better, makes a full recovery, it’s really tragic," Lochhead said.
Police say the 52-year-old man is still in the hospital. He is expected to survive. Police are asking the Waukesha County District Attorney's Office to file attempted homicide charges against the man who shot him.
