Brewers start homestand with key win vs. Reds

MILWAUKEE - Jean Segura had two hits and two runs scored and Wily Peralta threw seven strong innings as the Brewers beat the Reds 5-2 in the homestand opener Monday night at Miller Park.

Peralta, staked to a 3-0 lead after three, was in cruise control, striking out five and allowing just a solo home run to Billy Hamilton.

Francisco Rodriguez pitched a scoreless ninth to earn the save.

The Brewers are alone in first place in the NL Central since St. Louis was idle Monday.
