Brewers fans in early playoff mode hoping team is ready for an historic run to the playoffs
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Brewers’ regular season is winding down, but in many ways, the excitement is just heating up.
The Brewers are on the verge of making franchise history, and what fans hope is a long run in the playoffs.
With one more win, they can secure the best record in baseball in 2025, and home field advantage through the playoffs. It would also mark the most wins in franchise history.
Brewers fans are coming from far and near to catch franchise history in the making.
Dawn Post of Cedarburg told us it “Feels like a lot of guys that started from nowhere, coming together and making it happen."
The 2025 team is zeroing in on the best record in the 50+ years of Brewers baseball.
Ron Post said, “It’s history, right then and there. To be part of it, part of this magic.”
The Brewers’ postseason catchphrase is “Magic Brew.” In that spirit, fans think this year’s team has the right ingredients and the right chef to cook up something special this postseason.
Jeff Shaffer said, “You see the teamwork. You see it on the field, you see it in the clips in the locker room.” He added, “I think our coaching’s been the best it’s ever been in a long time.”
Renee Umnus of Green Bay told us, “I’m really hoping that they’re going all the way this year. I think they have it in them.”
The Brewers are riding the crest of a years’ long wave of success, but playoff wins have proved elusive.
Donovan Johnson drove in from Iowa. After several exits in the Wild Card round, he said, “I feel better this year, though, just because of the fact we don’t have the best-of-three. And I think that’s been our Achilles heel.”
To many, this feels like the right year to do something that’s never happened here before.
Ron Post said, “To support this team the way they support this community and the fans.”
Dawn Post added, “I think it is going to be different. I think they’re going to go.”
“I think it’s going to go all the way. We’re overdue,” Shaffer told us.
