They say a game in July rarely decides a major league baseball season.
But what about 3 games?
The Brewers and Cubs squared off Friday night in the first of three games at Miller Park.
The weekend series, pitting division rivals against each other in the hunt for October.
As usual, Cubs fans invaded the city, making the 90 mile drive north to Miller Park.
"I love it when the games up here are competitive," said Cubs fan Bryan Daley. "It's always fun to come to the park and see a one vs. two match-up."
Hard to believe two weeks ago the Brewers had a 5 1/2 game lead on their rivals to the south. By first pitch Friday, the Cubs had retaken the division lead.
"It's a big three game swing that can happen here," said Daley.
Despite the slide, Brewers fans are feeling optimistic. After all, the fastest way to catch a team in front of you, is to beat them.
"I'm feeling good," said Jon Bare. "The Brewers always play the Cubs strong."
"I think we'll be back in first shortly," added Cindy Tate.
While October might be a ways off, both sides know this weekend is must-watch baseball.
