MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Boys & Girls Club of Greater Milwaukee have a big reason to celebrate.
Wednesday, July 8, marked 70 percent of the locations reopening. It's part of the "Smartest Restart Initiative" which helps provide much-needed summer programming to kids in Milwaukee at a time when it is needed most.
The celebration also featured a $100,000 gift from Clarios which will go toward that initiative.
"This particular program allows to really address the summer learning slide, and try to get kids prepared as quickly as possible to go back to whatever school may look like in the fall," said Kathy Thornton-Bias, President and CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee.
Clarios employees and club kids also took the time to chalk the sidewalks outside of the Mary Ryan Club with uplifting messages.
