5 teens charged after fire at former industrial building in Kenosha
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A Milwaukee man died following an arrest in November. Police officers were cleared of any wrong-doing and new body camera video may reveal why.
Jamar Ferguson took off from police the night of November 5. He crashed and ran into a brush pile. Ferguson told officers he couldn't breathe and had broken bones. At first, they don't appear to realize his injuries were deadly.
In an interview that followed, an officer said Ferguson's hands were cuffed in the front.
They tried to lift him out of the woods but he was in too much pain. Officers had to carry him out.
"I grabbed him under the arms and tried to lift him up but he was dead weight," an officer said.
Ferguson's cuffs were removed while they waited for an ambulance. He later died at the hospital.
His immediate cause of death was ruled "complications of Sickle Cell Trait."
