MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- All good things must come to an end. It is the end of sailing season at the Milwaukee Community Sailing Center.
More than 20 boats were lifted by cranes out of Lake Michigan on Friday, Oct. 18, headed for winter storage on what is now called "Big Boat Day."
If it seems a little early to end the sailing season, given our mild weather. The center's director tells us it cannot be helped.
"We booked the crane in advance, we pick the day months out. And then one time," said Teresa Coronado, Milwaukee Community Sailing Center. "We did delay it because of nice weather, the very next day we basically had ice and snow, and it made this part very hard."
The sailing center offers instructional programs for adults and children. They had a record-setting year for participation.
Their season officially ends on Sunday.
