WISCONSIN (CBS 58) -- The American Red Cross is warning of severe blood shortages across the country.
Like so many other things, the organization says it's tied to the pandemic.
Blood levels in Wisconsin have also dropped to critically low levels, according to Versiti Blood Center of Wisconsin, and officials are pleading with people to give blood if they're able.
That includes State Representative Greta Neubauer.
She rolled up her sleeve at Versiti Blood Center in Racine Friday, June 18.
"After the year that our community, state and country have had, with so much loss, I wanted to make sure I was doing everything I can to help save lives," said Rep. Neubauer (D-Racine).
Just one blood donation can save up to three lives.
