MILWAUKEE COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A body found at Warnimont Park Sunday has been identified as a swimmer who went missing nearly a week earlier.
Investigators say 19-year-old Aaron Polnitz of Brookfield was swimming in Lake Michigan east of Warnimont Park on August 5 when he failed to resurface after disappearing underwater.
Rescue efforts continued Monday evening into Tuesday until officials said the search shifted to a recovery.
Polnitz was said to be part of a group of three and the other two swimmers were taken to the hospital for precautionary reasons after swallowing a lot of water Monday. Officials say they were released from the hospital the morning of August 6 and are okay.
