UPDATE: MOUNT PLEASANT, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Charges have been filed after an 18-year-old man was killed in a hit and run in Mount Pleasant.
The man accused, Johnny Taylor, 71, made his initial court appearance Wednesday at the Racine County Courthouse.
The victim, Teren Cagle, was riding his bike along Highway 32, when he was struck by a car, Monday night. An off-duty deputy found Cagle lying in a ditch, just before 11 p.m. He later died from his injuries.
According to the criminal complaint, he was hit by the car Taylor was driving. Taylor didn't stop -- he circled back around and drove off, according to the complaint.
The prosecution said he tried to hide what he did.
"From him fleeing the scene, and then buying parts to fix his car…additionally he made up a story to officers once he talked to them stating someone by the name of Diane was driving," said the prosecutor.
Taylor's bond has been set at $50,000 cash. He could face up to 25-years in prison, if convicted.
