MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – The Better Business Bureau Serving Wisconsin (BBB) and the Wisconsin Department of Financial Institutions (DFI) are warning people about misleading solicitations.
According to the BBB, the solicitation looks like it is from the Secretary of State and requests payment of $72.50 for a ‘Certificate of Status’.
DFI says they are not sending this out and the requested money exceeds the $10 fee for the service.
Businesses are advised to not pay the $72.50.
More information can be found on the BBB website.
