Balloon Adventure brings a creepy, crawly experience to Lake Geneva

LAKE GENEVA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Balloons are once again creating a buzz in Lake Geneva. It's time for the third annual Balloon Adventure at the Pier 290 Boat Showroom, and the theme is Buggin' Out.

There are more than 100,000 balloons twisted and turned to create a creepy-crawly space for kids and adults alike. From snails and spiders to a firefly cave, local balloon artists, Sara Meyer, worked with other balloon artists to bring the space it to life.

"She works with 16 different artists to create the different areas. So, right now, we have the firefly area, we have the bee area," said Kimberly Voller, the executive director of the 531 Fund. "It’s fun to hear the reaction as they walk in."

While seeing the reaction from families is part of the joy for Voller, it's an event with a purpose that keeps her going. Every year, the 531 Fund chooses a charity to receive 100 percent of the proceeds from Balloon Adventure Buggin' Out.

This year, Camp Timber-lee will receive the proceeds.
