Badgers Win Final Game; Michigan State, Iowa Will Play in Big Ten Championship

With a victory on Saturday, Michigan State earned its third Big Ten Football Championship Game berth and a share of the East Division title and will meet Iowa on Saturday, December 5, at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. The Hawkeyes, who clinched a title game berth last weekend, were also victorious on Friday and were outright West Division champions.

The fifth annual Big Ten Football Championship Game is scheduled to kick off at 8:17 PM. The game will air nationally on FOX and will be broadcast nationally on Compass Media Networks. The winner earns the Amos Alonzo Stagg Championship Trophy and a chance to play in one of the six bowls that comprise the College Football Playoff, including the Rose Bowl Game.

Iowa will make its first championship game appearance, while Michigan State earned championship game berths in 2011 and 2013. The Hawkeyes and Spartans last met on Oct. 5, 2013, with Michigan State claiming a 26-14 victory.

Michigan State defeated Penn State today to end the regular season at 11-1 overall and 7-1 in the Big Ten East Division. The Spartans shared the division title with Ohio State, which defeated Michigan on Saturday to also finish 11-1 overall and 7-1 in Big Ten contests. However, Michigan State earned the championship game berth due to its head-to-head victory over the Buckeyes on November 21.

Iowa picked up a victory over Nebraska on Friday to conclude an undefeated regular season. The Hawkeyes set a new program record with their 12th victory on the year.

The Badgers defeated Minnesota 31-21 to take home Paul Bunyan's Axe for the 12th year in a row.
