Attention cheese curd fans: There's a festival for you!
Save the date, Milwaukee!
Drink Wisconsinbly Pub will kick off the summer festival season by hosting their first annual Curd Fest and 5Curdk run on Saturday, June 17th.
The day begins at 8 a.m. with a 5k run and continues with cheese-related events throughout the day.
Curd Fest will feature a live polka band and a cheese curd eating contest.
Who’s On Third, Sobelman’s, Bumstead Provisions, and Roelli Creamery Co. will join Drink Wisconinbly Pub and other local vendors in the hunt for the most honorable award in the city- Milwaukee’s Best Cheese Curds. A panel of local curd enthusiasts will combine their knowledge of the perfectly fried cheese curd to present the award.
“We know that Wisconsinites love cheese curds and they love festivals, so we figured why not have the two share a day?” Drink Wisconsinbly General Manager David Sapp said. “There’s a festival for just about everything so it seemed natural to create one for cheese curds.”
Prior to the festival, participants of the 5CurdK will follow a route through the neighborhood of Walker’s Point with cheese curds as incentives along the way. The run will end at DW Pub where Barclay Street will be shut down and the festival will follow promptly at 10 a.m.
