MADISON (CBS 58) - It's been ten years since Arrowhead last played for a state title and the school has not won a title since going back-to-back in 2012 and 2013. The long wait is over.

The Warhawks won a wild back and forth game against the reigning Division 1 champion Bay Port Pirates, 18-15.

Tied 0-0 after the first quarter, Arrowhead got on the board with a Nolan Hanson 18-yard pass to Parker Hughes to make it 6-0. That score held until late in the third quarter when Bay Port got on the board with a Matt Stevens quarterback run to take a 7-6 lead.

The fourth is when things heated up. There were three different lead changes including two in the final minute. After running back Brady Moon gave the Pirates the lead and a two-point conversion made it 15-12, the Warhawks faced defeat with 0:46 left.

On the ensuing kickoff, senior Ryan Heiman returned it for a 76-yard touchdown to give Arrowhead a 18-15 lead. Still the Warhawks needed one more stop and got it with one second left as Stevens threw and incomplete pass into the endzone on the Arrowhead 11.

This is the Warhawks seventh overall state title.

There's no feeling cg foley like it just this pure joy. Overcoming emotion of joy and I can't I don't even know how to say it but probably the best feeling of my entire life,” said senior Brendan Foley who led the defense with 10 tackles and a sack.

“You work so hard to give these kids the best experience you possibly can and that's what it was - it was like 'wow' we gave not only the kids but the whole community just the best experience they possibly could,” said Matt Harris, Arrowhead head coach making his trip to state with the Warhawks.

After the win, the team said they had the goal of “re-establishing the ‘A’’ and mission accomplished.

“This is family, obviously, it's my senior year. There's no better way to go out than leaving these guys behind with something to stand for. It means a lot to me,” said Heiman.

“We brought a back. We brought it back for the community and I feel like it's going to translate to the rest of the school,” said Foley.

Arrowhead makes it a perfect 4-4 with four area teams all claiming titles in the final two days of the high school football season.
